@ RED_QUEEN: Transmitting.

Step 2: Race Selection

When we're talking about race, we're not speaking of if they're hispanic, caucasion, or oriental. Race is (for now) what type of human/humanoid they are.

PLEASE NOTE: If you want your character to be any race other than POH, you MUST consult with the GM! (e-mail katsuhiro@qwest.net.)

There are currently five races. Each race has attributes and numbers associated with it...you need to note these down, because they're important!

Human (POH)
Plain ol' human.

Newtype (NT)
Humans possessing psionic abilities. Only people originating from space- bound colonies possess these abilities, though it is not really known what exactly causes this. For the most part, Newtypes are incredibly rare, and all information about them is considered to be classified, partially for their protection. As time goes on, however, more Newtypes are manifesting, and it is very possible that their existence will become public knowledge very soon. Most Newtypes are plagued with emotional instability and have difficulties controlling their powers completely, making them at times very dangerous. Identified talents include: Telepathy, empathy, clairvoyance, telekinesis, and pyrokinesis.

Enhanced human (EH)
An enhanced human is a human that has had something about them artificially enhanced, through implants, drugs, etc. While an EH can have a physical or mental characteristic that makes them superior to a normal human, other characteristics are normally below average.
Out of the attributes listed, ONE may be selected to have a maximum of 55, rather than the normal maximum of 40.

Genetically Altered Human (GAH)
A human that was altered pre-birth by means of gene therapy or straight genetic manipulation. For the most part, they aren't too different from normal humans, though the do have a better chance at possessing Newtype abilties. (Most genetic experiments that took place before the ban on genetic manipulation had to do with creating artificial Newtypes.) Correspondingly, they tend to be slightly mentally or emotionally unstable, and face a great deal of discrimination if it is discovered that they have been altered. They also are victim to strange food and drug allergies, and be often suffer from a depleted immune system or internal physical defects. Genetic manipulation has since been outlawed by the Confederacy.
Out of the attributes listed, TWO may be selected to have a maximum of 50, rather than the normal maximum of 40.

Genetically Engineered Life Form (GELF)
An individual who was based off of human stock but altered so drastically through genetic manipulation that they are now a completely different species. (Their genetic structure is so different from humans that they would be unable to breed with them, and are thus considered to be a separate species that just happens to look human.) GELFs are often highly emotionally and mentally volatile, possess superhuman strength, speed, and intelligence, and sometimes develop powerful and uncontrolled Newtype abilities. GELFs are engineered to be sterile. They have strange food and drug allergies, and metabolise things very differently from humans. It is virtually impossible to treat a GELF medically the same way one would treat a human, which makes them incredibly difficult to heal. GELFs often have a characteristic engineered into them which marks them different from humans, such as eye color, and are often dependent upon drugs to keep them stable. They are a species all their own, and face extreme discrimination if anyone knows what they are.

Ok, so now you've figured out what race your character is and have noted down all of the attribute maximums, etc. Now, it's time to do something with those attributes.

Onward to Step 3!
